LIFE award
Embraer and a consortium of designers have won the Crystal Cabin Award for
excellence in innovation for aircraft interiors. The award, in the Visionary Concepts
category, was jointly won by AlmaDesign, Couro Azul, Amorim Cork Composites, SET
and INEGI, the industrial engineering institute of the University of Porto School of
Engineering. Their entry for a Lighter, Integrated, Friendly and Eco-efficient (LIFE)
cabin integrated sustainable, light, and functional solutions for the interior of an eco-
efficient aircraft. “We are honored that Project LIFE was chosen as the winner of
the Crystal Cabin Award,” said Mauro Kern, Executive VP, Embraer Engineering and
Technology. “This prize is the coronation of a long effort in partnership led by Brazil China Eastern snaps
and Portugal, and shows that relevant results can be obtained in innovation for the
