The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has awarded a wo year contract extension to Airbus Australia Pacific (Airbus) for sustainment of its C-130J fleet.
The sustainment work will last till 2024 and include engineering, maintenance, and supply support for RAAF C-130Js. Airbus has been supporting the fleet since March 2009.
Australia’s Minister for Defence, the Hon Christopher Pyne said that the contract extension was granted after Airbus provided outstanding sustainment support to the C-130J fleet. “Airbus reduced sustainment costs by $10 million over the 2019 to 2024 period,” Pyne said.
The Australian content as part of the deal is valued at approximately $110 million for the two year extension and comprises about 62 per cent of the contract.
The RAAF No 37 Squadron operates 12 C‑130J Hercules’s are operated by the RAAF’s No 37 Squadron from RAAF Base Richmond, New South Wales.
