Russia’s Ministry of Defence, has announced that a new arctic version of Pantsir anti-aircraft missile and gun systems will be inducted into operational units later this year.
The announcement was made by Russia’s Deputy Defence Minister Alexey Krivoruchko, who said, “The first Arctic set of the Pantsir-SA anti-aircraft missile and gun systems will enter the troops in 2019, in the coming days it will be released for testing.”
Serial production of the Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile and gun systems are already underway.
In a recent exercise, a Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile-cannon complexes intercepted and destroyed an attack of drones launched by the adversary at a command post near Novosibirsk.
Under the exercise scenario, Pantsir-S1 crews found a group of unmanned aerial vehicles approaching the command post of the combined arms group. The targets were intercepted and engaged at ranges of up to 2,000 meters.
