Aselsan Pitches New Weapons to Kazakhstan

: May 24, 2018 - : 6:00 pm

Aselsan of Turkey is proposing the Alkar 120 mm mortar weapon system and ARSUS reconnaissance and surveillance system to meet the needs of the Kazakhstan Military at the ongoing show. Designed entirely by Aselsan from sub-system level, the 120 mm Alkar mortar features a turret design equipped with automatic barrel laying system, automatic ammunition loading system, recoil mechanism and fire control systems.

“Alkar’s modular system also features a unique recoil mechanism which reduces the force transferred to the platform during shooting hence increasing the number of tactical wheeled vehicles (even 4X4) and tracked vehicles that it can be fitted on,” a company official tells Daily News. The 120 mm mortar also features automatic ammunition loading, which is beneficial for a high rate of fire.

The other system being marketed by Aselsan is the Arsus reconnaissance and surveillance system. This compact system has its radar, electro optic and inertial navigation system integrated onto a single mast and can be integrated on to any type of vehicle and platform. The Arsus system has is field proven in harsh environmental conditions. In addition to being able to detect targets from afar, it can detect, recognize and identify targets by using the EO sensor at closer ranges.
