Atlas Elektronik Expects Increase in Demand for SeaHake

: Dec 4, 2018 - : 8:00 pm

Atlas Elektronik, one of the leading naval system majors, expects a rise in demand for its SeaHake mod4 dual-purpose and fibre-optic wire-guided heavy-weight torpedo.

SeaHake mod 4, the latest advancement of the DM 2 A4 heavyweight torpedo, is in service with the German Navy as well as the navies of several countries in the region. “SeaHake mod4 offers a flexible solution capable of integration to a variety of modern platforms and Combat Management System (CMS),” says a company official.

The Weapon Control Systems (WCS) enables full exploitation of torpedo SeaHake mod4 capabilities and engagements based on CMS data without affecting the launch capabilities of existing weapons and sensors fitted on board of any submarine.

The SeaHake mod4 has a 21 inch (533 millimetres) standard calibre used for heavyweight torpedoes worldwide. It is capable of every common launching method such as swim-out, push-out, water steam or ram. “The dual-purpose and fibre-optic wire-guided heavy-weight torpedo fully meets the operational requirements of modern Navies and is specifically designed to meet the confined shallow and blue water environments of today ‘s and future naval scenarios,” says the official.

The propulsion of SeaHake mod 4 features the unique modular battery system and an electric motor with very low self-noise. It provides high speed and long range combined with exceptional stealth characteristics. The digital sonar system features the unrivaled conformal array and can master complex scenarios. It manages multiple targets while identifying and suppressing any kind of jammers and decoys. The torpedo can separate and classify multiple targets, and the wide angular coverage of the sonar provides the full operational picture instantaneously.
