An important aspect of modern Egyptian combat capability is being showcased at Cairo with regards to infantry fighting equipment.
The Egyptian Integrated Soldier System (EISS), on display at the ongoing EDEX 2018, has been designed and developed by Arab International Optronics (AIO) as a cost-effective solution to upgrade Egyptian infantry combat capability. The EISS is available at soldier and commander level and these soldier systems upgrade the combat capability of the individual soldier by providing improved situational awareness and weapon aiming accuracy, as a result of the included surveillance, aiming and control equipment provided.
The Commander Systems comprises of a thermal observation sight and display screen for the eye, in addition to a thermal sight for the weapon. A power supply and control unit is also provided, which consists of rechargeable batteries, battery level indicator and control switches. Comprehensive desert configured clothing gear is also provided such as plastic helmet, camouflaged protective vest, camouflaged back mounted bag with a 2.3 lt rehydration pouch, protective knee and elbow pads and finally, camouflaged belt, leather gloves and desert boots.
The Soldier System comprises of a helmet group that comprises of a day optical sight, night vision sight and display screen above the eye. The weapons receive day and night aiming sights and the power supply and control is the same as that provided for the Commander system as are the clothing and helmet accessories. AIO also produces the CCD camera that links the optical group with day aiming telescope of RPG-7 or targeting dot sight for MP5 submachine guns and assault rifles.
