Enhanced Operational Reach for Ukranian Spectator-M Drone

: Apr 17, 2018 - : 9:08 pm

Ukraine’s newest unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) Spectator-M, which entered service with the armed forces of Ukraine at the end of last year is now operational in Crimea.

“As of today, the Spectator-M complexes are also used in the maritime area of the border detachment and the  administrative border with the temporarily occupied Crimea,” informs an official of the Azov-Black Sea Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service.

The UAVs can cover an area of 50 kilometers at an altitude of up to 2000m and are fitted with modern video and thermal imaging cameras. The new Spectator-M offers better performance, greater load capacity and flying range than the older BpAK-MP-1 “Spectator” drone.

The Spectator-M can be deployed as fast as two minutes, which makes it highly effective to use in combat conditions and it can be easily transported even in a backpack. The Spectator-M was developed in close cooperation between NTU “I. Sikorsky KPI” and UOP OJSC “Meridian”.
