Finnair and Magnetic MRO have signed a multi-service contract by which the MRO will be in charge of paintwork, refurbishment and base maintenance of the airline’s fleet of 12 ATR 72 aircraft. It is the first time that the MRO provider is providing base maintenance for ATR 72 aircraft.
Work on the first aircraft was completed at MRO’s Tallinn hangars; the aircraft was delivered back to the airline on May 9. The entire project is slated for completion by the end of the first quarter of 2020.
As per the deal, Magnetic MRO will complete a full interior refurbishment for the ATR aircraft, while also updating the livery to match Finnair’s colours.
“By taking up the large-scale project, Magnetic MRO has once again proven that we are a great partner for providing a full package of total technical care solutions with a high-level quality for our customers, starting from the design bundle for cabin modification and full refurbishment, all the way to external livery change and maintenance tasks,” said Kaspars Podins, Magnetic MRO’s operations manager.
“Finnair and Magnetic MRO have over 15 years of excellent partnership on ATR and A320 maintenance,” said Juha Ojala, Finnair’s head of Engineering. “Magnetic MRO is perfectly located close to our main base Helsinki and their recent process development, especially on aircraft painting, convinced us on their ability to manage the whole fleet wide modification program within agreed time schedule at high quality and competitive cost.”
