The increasing involvement of Iran in Syria puts the protection of the Israeli Air Force (IAF) UAV on top priority. The other effort is to protect the UAV’s payloads.

Iran has a very developed Cyber force and according to sources this force is “present in Syria”.

Israeli experts say that the Iranians have Cyber capabilities that can disrupt UAV missions. According to the Syrian and Lebanese media, Israeli UAV’s are flying over these countries on a regular basis.

Israel has threatened to foil any attempt of Iran to build a facility for the production of advanced ballistic missiles in Lebanon.

The IAF has been engaged in an effort to protect its UAV’s from cyberattacks. This effort will be accelerated now.

Col. Shai, head of the IAF ICT department said that cyber can harm more than weapon systems. “Everything is digital and this puts all our systems in great danger. This danger can come from far away and it, for sure, changes the balance of military power in the world,” he said.

The force’s flight test center is working with other department of the force and with the special units of the Israeli defence forces (IDF) to create a full set of regulations that are aimed at protecting the operational UAV’s from cyber-attacks.
