The digitalization and innovation hub of Lufthansa Group, Lufthansa Innovation Hub (LIH), opened the doors of its first office in Singapore.
LIH’s decision is a strategic response to Asia’s growing aviation technology market.
LIH and INSEAD, Singapore, have partnered and concluded a research alliance on future of work and its relevance for the transformation of business travel. The aim is to publish key findings in a whitepaper and implement them in a test project which will be validated (in real-world conditions) in conjunction with the Lufthansa Group.
LIH is also in discussions with Changi Airport, one of the most technologically advanced airports in the world. LIH together with Changi Airport Group’s Bernard Siew, Vice President, Innovation Lab, gave a tour of Changi Terminal 4.
Changi, often voted the world’s best airport, is among hubs worldwide rolling out new technology as the fight intensifies for long-haul travellers.
In addition, the group is also in discussions with WeWork, and the Munich Airport, which operates its Terminal 2 together with Lufthansa Group.

Singapore is clearly a pioneer of mobility innovation and our first collaboration with INSEAD and other players strongly attests to how eager established local players are to experiment and explore,” stated Gleb Tritus, Managing Director of the Lufthansa Innovation Hub.
This is the first initiative of its kind by a Western airline on the Asian continent.
