: Mar 14, 2018 - : 12:55 am

Two MOUs were inked between Barzan Holdings and Nexter at the recently concluded DIMDEX exhibition held in Doha, Qatar.

The agreements will accelerate Qatar’s VBCI programme, for which a letter of intent was signed between Nexter and the Qatari Ministry of Defence (through Barzan Holdings, a company owned by Qatar’s Ministry of Defence) on December 7th, 2017.

“Barzan Holdings is delighted to partner with Nexter, a leading French defence company on this strategic program. The VBCI program will empower the military capabilities of the Qatar Armed Forces and represents a major step forward in Qatar’s defence industry,” said Nasser Al Naimi, Managing Director of Barzan Holdings.

The first MOU will allow greater collaboration Nexter and Barzan as both companies work together to finalize the Qatari VBCI program. The two companies are also working to bring other common projects for the Qatari forces to fruition.

The industrial cooperation between Barzan Holdings, Nexter and all other industrial partners for the Al Rayan programme has been finalized with the second MOU and formally launches the contractual process.

Qatar’s VBCIs are on display at Barzan’s pavilion.; one variant equipped with a 30mm canon and another with the Nexter 40CT turret.
