Australian technology company Advanced Navigation is showcasing its latest navigation, sensing and autonomous systems at the ongoing Farnborough International Airshow, highlighting technologies designed to help aircraft, drones and military platforms operate when GPS signals are unavailable or disrupted.
The company is exhibiting its portfolio of inertial navigation systems (INS), inertial measurement units (IMUs), autonomous navigation software and advanced sensors used across the aerospace, defense and maritime sectors.
The company is highlighting the Certus Evo inertial navigation system for defense and aerospace applications, the Boreas D90 navigation system for aircraft and autonomous platforms, and the Spatial Series for drones and robotic systems. It will also exhibit digital compass and attitude and heading reference systems (AHRS) that provide critical orientation data for navigation.
Advanced Navigation said its technologies enable aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, ships, submarines and ground robots to maintain accurate positioning even when satellite navigation signals are degraded, jammed or unavailable, a growing requirement as militaries prepare for operations in contested electromagnetic environments.
The company is demonstrating software for GPS-denied navigation, sensor fusion and autonomous vehicle positioning, along with underwater navigation systems for autonomous and remotely operated underwater vehicles. Its portfolio includes LiDAR-based perception systems for mapping and autonomous navigation following its acquisition of Vai Photonics, an Australian LiDAR developer.
In addition, Advanced Navigation is investing in next-generation photonic and quantum sensing technologies, including fiber-optic gyroscopes, photonic inertial sensors, quantum accelerometers and quantum gravimeters aimed at improving navigation accuracy without relying on satellite signals.
