Aero Vodochody Bags L-39NG Aircraft Order from Senegal

AERO Vodochody AEROSPACE, the specialist Czech manufacturer of advanced jet trainers and light attack aircraft has announced an order from the Republic of Senegal for 4 L-39NG aircraft in light attack configuration.

Aero will supply the L-39NGs with full training capability and under the terms of the comprehensive contract will also provide training of pilots, including conversion, instructor and combat training, maintenance personnel training, spare parts, ground support equipment and logistic support services.

“The L-39NG aircraft is the new future of Aero Vodochody, the company that has been producing proprietary aircraft since 1919. The L-39NG is based on successful aero dynamical concept of the current L-39 but is manufactured with the use of new technologies and contains modern systems,” says Giuseppe Giordo, the president of Aero Vodochody. “Currently we also have two additional contracts in a very mature state of negotiation, “Giordo adds.

Aero commenced pre-series production of the L-39NG in January and presently producing a batch of four L-39NGs for flight testing. Aircraft nos 1 and 4 will undertake flight testing wile Aircraft no 2 will be used for static tests and aircraft no 3 will be used for fatigue tests.

The pre-series L-39NG aircraft is slated to make its maiden flight by the end of this year and first aircraft deliveries will start in early 2020.

The L-39NG aircraft is a complete revamp of the proven L-39 and is powered by a FJ44-4M engine and the aircraft’s avionics are prepared to train future pilots of 4th and 5th generation aircraft. The L-39NG also has 5 weapons hardpoints.
