Africair has signed a purchase agreement with Bell Helicopter for the first Bell 407GXi in Africa. The aircraft will be operated by a corporate customer.

The deal was signed on Wednesday at the ongoing Farnborough International Airshow. Sameer Rehman, Bell Managing Director – Middle East and Africa, Robert Prentice, Africair Vice President, Mustapha Chehab, Bell Regional Sales Manager, Susan Griffin, Bell Executive Vice President Commercial Business, and Patrick Moulay, Bell Senior Vice President Commercial Business – International.
The 407GXi, a converted 407GXP that features new avionics as well as an upgraded engine, officially revealed the helicopter earlier this year in Las Vegas, Nevada. The helicopter, which received certification from Transport Canada on Jan. 19, is different from its GXP predecessor on at least two counts. According to the company, the Bell GXi delivers improved pilot awareness, higher precision navigation, enhanced engine controls, and improved connectivity.
Africair has been distributing aircraft and providing parts and support to the region in Africa for over 50 years.
