oThe Airbus Foundation will collaborate with Fondo Unido-United Way México to bring to the country the Flying Challenge, a youth activity and mentoring program that helps raise awareness about aerospace, while supporting academic and soft skills development. The announcement was made during the third edition of Famex.
The Airbus Foundation Flying Challenge will be launched in Mexico City in 2019. In the next few months, the Airbus Foundation and Fondo Unido-United Way México will select the school where the program will be implemented.
For 40 years, Fondo Unido-United Way México has realized opportunities for individuals throughout the country by transforming their community with education, health and financial stability programs. With their support, a customized curriculum will be developed for students to learn more about the aerospace industry, while also exposing them to the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
Created by the Airbus Foundation in 2011, the Flying Challenge has reached more than 4,800 students worldwide and involved over 1,900 Airbus employee volunteers. The program is now operating out of 17 locations across seven countries, and Mexico will be the second country in Latin America to launch the program after a successful deployment in Brazil.
