Airbus is highlighting its extensive range of defence, space and helicopter products and services at the 16th edition of Defence Services Asia 2018.From the Airbus Helicopters division, there are scale models of the H225M heavy helicopter, which is in service with the RMAF, as well as the popular H175 super-medium and H-135 light-twin civil rotorcraft.
As the latest member of Airbus’ military Super Puma/Cougar family, the 11-metric-tonne H225M has been used effectively in combat conditions and crisis areas that include Lebanon, Afghanistan, Chad, the Ivory Coast, the Central African Republic, Somalia and Mali, while also supporting NATO-led operations in Libya. The helicopter is relied upon as a force multiplier by France, Brazil, Mexico, Malaysia, Indonesia, Kuwait and Thailand.
Capable of operating both from ships and from land, even in icing conditions, the helicopter has an all-weather capability supported by night vision goggle compatibility. It’s 700 NM range can be extended with air-to-air or hover in-flight refuelling capabilities. The H225M is used in a full range of military missions including special operations, combat search and rescue, tactical transport as well as medical evacuation.
The highlights of the 7-tonne class H175, which was developed by the company as its new-generation medium-sized rotorcraft, include enhanced flight safety, more volume per seat for passenger comfort, mission versatility, simplified maintenance, and cost effectiveness. The H135, which is known for its endurance, compact build, low sound levels, reliability, versatility and cost-competitiveness, can perform different missions, land anywhere, while carrying more payload over longer distances than other rotorcraft in its story_category. More than 1,250 helicopters have been delivered and are in service in more than 60 countries.
