Kellstrom Defense Aerospace, Inc. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with AIROD Sdn Bhd for collaboration in the retrofit and installation of the C-130 Short-Pod Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) and E2H Flight Deck Environmental Control System (ECS).
AIROD had recently installed the systems onto a C-130H operated by a neighbouring military operator and this trofit is upgraded into C-130s to eliminate obsolescence and the underperformance associated with the legacy GTC 85-71A APU and Air Turbine Motor System.
“AIROD, being a Hercules Service Center, has provided nose-to-tail solutions on the Hercules platform for decades. AIROD’s capabilities not only covers scheduled maintenance services, but also covers battle damage repairs, avionics and structural modification and upgrades and field service work,” said Dato’ Sri Mohamad Elkany Ahmad, Managing Director of AIROD, while adding, “We are proud to say that AIROD is one of the most certified Lockheed Service Center. Due to this capability, AIROD had also secured a 5-year Periodic Maintenance Interval Contract for the USMC KC-130J which is in its 4th year running.”
“This collaboration will allow us to widen our reach regionally and provide support in the upgrade and retrofit of the Short Pod APU and ECS to more legacy C-130 aircraft in the region,” said Loo Choon Meng, Director of Business Development in Asia, Kellstrom Defense Aerospace, Inc.
AIROD will now become a Kellstrom Defense Aerospace, Inc. recognized installer in this region.
