American Airlines Cancels 1,500 Flights, Delays Another 1,000

Our Bureau - : Nov 2, 2021 - : 5:18 am

It was a tough weekend for American Airlines with the carrier being forced to cancel 367 flights on Friday, 551 on Saturday, and 634 on Sunday because of bad weather and staff shortage.

“With additional weather throughout the system, our staffing begins to run tight as crew members end up out of their regular flight sequences,” the airline said in a statement. The airline added that two days of severe winds in Dallas-Fort Worth, also contributed to sharply reduced arrival capacity.

With demand for air travel increasing in recent weeks, many airlines, including American Airlines is bringing back existing staff or recruiting new staff. American Airlines has asked nearly 1,800 flight attendants to return from leave and more than 600 newly hired flight attendants will joining service the end of December.
