Anka Looking for Potential Buyers in Central Asia

: May 23, 2018 - : 3:44 pm

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) is offering its Anka medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to several Central Asian countries including Kazakhstan.

“Anka would suit several countries in this region as it can act as a force multiplier. Our UAVs have an operational ceiling of 30,000ft and can go on for 26 hours, and can keep eyes on a target, eliminate them with their payload or if needed, call in a strike force,” an official at TAI says.

The Anka UAV system is a MALE UAV platform that is capable of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) and precision-strike missions.

TAI weaponized the system in April last year. Last month, the company delivered two Anka-S UAVs to the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK); the service now has six Anka-S UAVs. Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh and Indonesia have also evinced interest in Anka. Keen to capitalise on the region’s considerable market potential, TAI is also showcasing its T129 ATAK Multirole Combat Helicopter at the ongoing KADEX 2018.

The T129 has also generated a great amount of interest from militaries in different parts of the world, especially Southeast Asia and the Middle East. While the company is close to signing a deal with Pakistan for the sale of 30 T129s, Thailand, Bangladesh and Philippines too are said to be interested in the combat helicopter. The other products that are being showcased at the event are the “Hurkus” New Generation Basic Trainer, and “T625” Multirole Helicopter and Turkish Fighter (TF) models.

Company officials believe that its products are ideally equipped to handle the demands of militaries in the region.
