Arnold Defence Fletcher Laser Guided Rocket System Pushes Boundaries

: Nov 6, 2018 - : 5:08 pm

US based armaments manufacturer, Arnold Defence is showcasing its range of range of rocket systems at the ongoing Indo Defence. The company’s latest offering is the new Fletcher laser guided rocket launcher system, which is now in low-rate production. Arnold Defence has also been exploring new ground and maritime-based concepts for the Fletcher laser guided rocket launcher system, which is now in low-rate production.

The Fletcher system has been optimized for use by both special and conventional forces to provide surface-to-surface precision effect and wider concepts being explored by the company now include use of the weapon system on Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV), naval and littoral platforms. When fitted on an UGV, it will allow troops on the ground greater flexibility in the tactical siting of remotely operated, laser guided weapon systems; whilst significantly minimising exposure and risk to ground-based troops. When deployed on naval/littoral platforms, the use of Fletcher rockets will deliver a precision weapon system with a range of up to 5km that can be deployed and operated at a tactical level previously not available.

“Since launching FLETCHER, Arnold Defence has exhibited the system widely on the international market, where it has garnered significant interest world-wide, especially from special operations units.  Our rocket launchers are already internationally well-established on airborne platforms, so transitioning into the land and marine environments with FLETCHER is a natural progression,” says Jim Hager, President and CEO of Arnold Defense. “These exciting new concepts will afford both land and maritime troops a transformational capability that has not previously been available without recourse to external air or aviation assets,” he adds.

The Fletcher laser guided rocket launcher system moves the deployment of 2.75-inch rocket systems, from their traditional realm of area suppression into a versatile precision fire rocket that can be mounted on land-based military vehicles as well as base defence platforms.
