India is holding talks with some friendly foreign countries to sell them the BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles.
“Several friendly countries have been showing keen interest in the BrahMos missile and India has been exploring the possibilities of exporting the missiles,” says an official from the Indo-Russian Joint Venture BrahMos Aerospace. India has received queries about the missiles Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia and Myanmar, and from countries in Latin America and the Middle East regions.
India’s Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also has said that India is keen on exporting the missile. There is a lot of interest particularly on this (BrahMos missile)… definitely lots of interest. On that, a lot of discussions are also going on. Many things are being discussed within the government and on the other end, with governments which want to buy them.
Decision making can sometimes be frustratingly long drawn but the interest is sustained. Sometimes it is the question of the cost being negotiated, but interest on Indian missiles is definitely growing and we are addressing it. We want to able to export it to friendly nations,” she says.
