Turkish defence company ASELSAN has expanded its presence in Southeast Asia with the signing of multiple cooperation agreements and the official opening of its Indonesian office during the INDODEFENCE 2024 exhibition in Jakarta.
Five agreements were concluded at the event, aimed at enhancing ASELSAN’s involvement in Indonesia’s defence sector through initiatives in joint development, co-production, and system integration. Senior officials from the Indonesian and Turkish defence establishments were present at the signing, highlighting the strategic nature of the partnerships.
One of the key agreements was signed with PT LEN Industri, involving technology transfer and co-production within radar, surveillance, cybersecurity, and command-and-control systems, through the state-owned defence holding DEFEND ID.
Two agreements with Czech companies were also announced. ASELSAN and CSG Group will explore joint opportunities, while a separate teaming arrangement with Excalibur Army focuses on integrating ASELSAN systems into the latter’s PATRIOT 4x4 vehicles for potential use in Indonesia.
An additional agreement with PT PINDAD outlines collaboration on weapon systems, fire control, and guidance technologies. Meanwhile, a partnership with PT PAL will involve the modernisation of existing systems and the development of new naval platforms.
To support these projects and strengthen its local presence, ASELSAN inaugurated its Indonesia office during the exhibition. The office is expected to facilitate closer cooperation with domestic partners, offer tailored solutions, and provide long-term support and maintenance services.
Ahmet Akyol, President and CEO of ASELSAN, remarked on the company’s regional engagement:
“We are proud to bring advanced capabilities and reliable cooperation to an important strategic market with our new office in Jakarta. Through our deepening ties in the region, ASELSAN Indonesia will serve as a direct link to local partners and support sustainable, high-impact cooperation through on-site services.”
Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, Secretary of the Turkish Defence Industries, also attended the ceremony and commented:
“It is a great honor to witness the opening of ASELSAN’s Jakarta office alongside the signing of strategic agreements that strengthen our defense partnership in the region. I believe this office will build bridges of technology, knowledge, and friendship between our nations, leading to a prosperous and auspicious future for both countries as well as new achievements in defense industry.”
