Azerbaijan has ordered 14 Hürkuş-II turboprop training aircraft from Turkish Aerospace as part of defense agreements with Türkiye worth more than $500 million.
The agreements were signed Sept. 30 at the ADEX 2026 defense exhibition in Baku. The package includes weapons, radar cooperation and industrial projects alongside the trainer purchase.
Haluk Görgün, head of Türkiye’s defense procurement agency, said deliveries to Azerbaijan were expected before the end of 2026. The announcement followed the Turkish Air Force’s receipt of its first Hürkuş-II aircraft.
The Hürkuş-II is a single-engine, two-seat aircraft designed for military pilot training. Its cockpit includes a head-up display and multifunction screens intended to help pilots prepare for fighter aircraft.
Other agreements involve Baykar’s Mızrak loitering munitions and Antidot systems, as well as Roketsan’s Barbaros coastal defense system. Aselsan signed a memorandum of understanding involving ALP-100 radars and a preliminary agreement with Azerbaijan’s NOVASIS on a factory in Nakhchivan.
The package also covers academic cooperation, research and logistics. The individual value of the aircraft order was not disclosed.
The agreements add to defense ties between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, including cooperation on military equipment, training and industrial development.
