The Bali International Airshow will return on 8–11 September 2027, following the success of its inaugural edition in 2024. Organisers have confirmed that the next iteration of the international aerospace exhibition will be expanded in scope and scale, reinforcing Indonesia’s ambition to become a regional hub for aviation and aerospace industries.
Held in September 2024 at the South Apron of the General Aviation Terminal, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, the event marked Indonesia’s first international-scale aerospace exhibition in over 28 years. It attracted major global players, including Airbus, Bell Helicopters, Boeing, BrahMos, Dassault Aviation, Embraer, Garuda Group, Helitech Asia (representing Leonardo), Lion Air, MBDA, PT Dirgantara Indonesia, Textron Aviation, and Thales. Exhibitors showcased a wide range of technologies, from commercial aircraft and helicopters to defence platforms.
The event received strong support from the Indonesian government and was coordinated by then Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, with participation from other cabinet ministers and military leaders. The airshow served as a platform for both commercial and defence sectors, offering opportunities for business engagement and public outreach.
A series of forums and discussions were held alongside the exhibition, featuring speakers such as Tony Blair, Executive Chairman of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change; Jodi Mahardi from the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment; Tony Fernandes, CEO of AirAsia Group; and William Dickey, Director of Business Development at Bell Helicopter Textron Asia Pacific. Topics included civil and military aviation trends and sustainability efforts, including a campaign promoting the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) developed by Pertamina.
The 2024 airshow also saw the signing of a Letter of Intent between several government agencies and stakeholders, including the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (InJourney), the Indonesian Air Force, and PT Inaro Tujuh Belas. The agreement outlines a commitment to host the Bali International Airshow every two years, aligning with Indonesia’s broader strategic goals in aviation and defence.
Andy Wismarsyah, CEO of PT Inaro Tujuh Belas, the event’s official organiser, described the inaugural airshow as a complex but rewarding undertaking. “It is a great honour for us to have successfully organised the Bali International Airshow, especially after nearly three decades without such an event. An airshow is inherently complex and presents many challenges,” he said.
Wismarsyah noted that the 2027 schedule allows adequate time for preparation and alignment with national priorities. “The decision to reschedule the Bali International Airshow for 2027 was made after considering many factors, including aligning with government directives regarding the timing of defence and aerospace events, as well as allowing enough time for detailed coordination with various stakeholders,” he said.
The new timeline was confirmed following a meeting on 10 March 2025 with the Ministry of Defense, during which Vice Minister of Defense Air Marshal (Ret.) Donny Ermawan Taufanto expressed full support for the event. He underscored the airshow’s role in strengthening Indonesia’s aerospace sector and advancing its defence diplomacy in the region.
The Bali International Airshow 2027 is expected to build on the foundations laid in 2024, offering an expanded platform for showcasing aviation advancements, fostering industry partnerships, and promoting Indonesia’s role in regional aerospace development.
