Barzan Holdings and BAE Systems signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the third day of the ongoing show to explore collaboration in future defence technologies.

The MoU covers multiple areas of potential technology collaboration, including autonomous systems, energetics and counter uncrewed air systems (C-UAS) solutions.

“Barzan Holdings plays a significant role in supporting Qatar’s defence and security objectives and we’re excited about the potential of this collaboration, said Adam Watson, Regional Managing Director for the Middle East, Türkiye and North Africa, BAE Systems. "By bringing together Barzan’s innovative technologies with our expertise in development, manufacturing and electronic systems, we’re collectively focused on progressing technology that aims to contribute to the prosperity and security of Qatar.”

BAE Systems has had a presence in the Middle East for more than 60 years. At the ongoing event, the company is featuring a range of capabilities across maritime, cyber, air, land and space, including the Typhoon combat aircraft and the Amphibious Combat Vehicle that is designed for integrated land and naval operations. Also being showcased is the T-Series Heavy-Lift UAS - all-electric, heavy-lift uncrewed aircraft systems for rapid deployment and sustainable missions.

In the maritime domain, BAE Systems is highlighting the capabilities of Nautomate, an Autonomous control system for surface and sub-surface vessels. Also being presented is the APKWS laser guidance kit, a precision laser-guidance kit that delivers accurate, low-collateral munitions capability. The company's joint venture, BAE Systems Strategic Aerospace Services WLL (BSL), which specialises in recruitment, complex procurement management and training solutions, is also participating in the ongoing event.

Enduring Relationship: "We have a long standing presence in Qatar, and we're proud of the role that we play in supporting Qatar's defence and security objectives. For us, strategic partnerships are essential for our enduring success in the country," said Russ Millar, Qatar Country Director at BAE Systems. "We are also focused on future partnerships and understanding where we can leverage BAE Systems' breadth and depth of capabilities to complement Qatar's growing defence capability."

The Middle East continues to be an important market for BAE Systems, said Millar. "We've been established in the region for more than 60 years now and in that time, we've established many meaningful partnerships and collaborations where we've had the privilege to support the national priorities and visions for multiple countries. Traditionally we've built this through the transfer of knowledge, skills and technology, and it's exciting to see how in country defence companies are accelerating their own capabilities and also their export ambitions. Partnerships will continue to be an important aspect of our approach in region and we look forward to seeing how we can collaborate further together."
