Batik Air will expand its network with the introduction of nine new routes, all scheduled to begin on 8 December 2025. This represents one of the airline’s largest single-day network launches and reflects its aim to strengthen regional connectivity across Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang (SZB), Kuala Lumpur’s city airport, will be at the centre of this expansion. Positioned to serve residents of Klang Valley and travellers seeking convenient domestic and regional connections, Subang will operate new routes to Singapore, Jakarta, Langkawi, and Johor Bahru. The expansion also aligns with the government’s Subang Airport Regeneration Plan (SARP), supporting the airport’s development as a regional hub.
Penang International Airport (PEN) will also take on a more prominent role in Batik Air’s network, with new flights to Singapore, Medan, Kuching, and Kota Kinabalu. The city’s cultural heritage, tourism appeal, and growing economic significance make it a key connector for northern Malaysia to East Malaysia and neighbouring countries.
Ipoh will join the network as a new destination, served via Sultan Azlan Shah Airport (IPH). Direct flights between Ipoh and Singapore will facilitate easier travel for leisure, family, and business purposes, enhancing connections between the historic city and Malaysia’s southern neighbour.
Singapore remains an important destination for Malaysian travellers. From November 2025, all Lion Group airlines, including Batik Air, will operate from Changi Airport Terminal 4, offering improved facilities and a more integrated travel experience.
Batik Air Chief Executive Officer Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy said the expansion reflects careful planning and a clear vision for regional aviation. “These new routes are not just about expanding our network — they signal our direction as a carrier. By investing in Subang and Penang as hubs and leveraging Singapore as an important source of inbound tourists, we are also supporting preparations for Visit Malaysia 2026, ensuring more travellers can experience Malaysia with greater ease,” he said.
He added that the new services provide opportunities for travellers, businesses, and communities, connecting key domestic hubs with selected international destinations. The nine new routes demonstrate the airline’s focus on providing greater choice and convenience while improving regional connectivity.
The new services launching on 8 December 2025 are: Subang–Singapore, Subang–Jakarta, Subang–Langkawi, Subang–Johor Bahru, Penang–Singapore, Penang–Medan, Penang–Kuching, Penang–Kota Kinabalu, and Ipoh–Singapore.
This expansion highlights Batik Air’s role as a regional connector, offering integrated travel options between Malaysia’s major cities and key destinations in Southeast Asia.
