BEML to Develop Two Seat Trainer with NAL

Indian state owned PSU BEML is increasing its foray into the aviation sector and has teamed up with NAL for joint development of a Two seat trainer aircraft.

NAL will undertake a Transfer of Technology (ToT) with BEML for Two seat trainer aircraft.

BEML also inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-National Aeronautics Laboratory (NAL) at the ongoing airshow.

BEML will enhance its presence in the areas of advances composites and autoclaves, Mini Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), Design and analysis of aircraft structure and systems as a result of this MoU.

CSIR-NAL’s mandate is to develop aerospace technologies with strong science content, design and build small, medium sized civil aircraft, and support all national aerospace programmes

NAL is a constituent of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India. CSIR-NAL is a high-technology oriented institution focusing on advanced disciplines in aerospace.

CSIR-NAL has several advanced test facilities, and many of them are recognized as National Facilities.

BEML Limited (formerly Bharat Earth Movers Limited) was established in May 1964 as a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) for manufacture of Rail Coaches & Spare Parts and Mining Equipment at its Bangalore Complex. The Company has partially disinvested and presently Government of India owns 54 percent of total equity.  The Company has a turnover of more than Rs.35 billion.

The Company operates under three major Business verticals viz., Mining & Construction, Defence and Rail & Metro. The three verticals are serviced by nine manufacturing units located at Bangalore, Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), Mysore, Palakkad and Subsidiary – Vignyan Industries Ltd, in Chikmagalur District.
