With over 300,000 new pilots needed over the next decade, CAE has introduced a program that is intended to inspire women, who currently represent less than 5% of pilots, to take up the profession. The CAE Women in Flight program is intended to promote a better gender balance and tap into a wider pool of talent in the search for new pilots. The company is also working with carriers to ensure funding opportunities for those who aspire to become pilots. At the ongoing Pari s Air Show, CAE announced the names of the first three winners of its 2019 CAE Women in Flight scholarship program. “We look forward to accompanying our new ambassadors, from their early days in training to the beginning of their journey as professional pilots with our airline partners,” said Nick Leontidis, CAE’s Group President, Civil Aviation Training Solutions. The first three CAE Women in Flight ambassadors are Georgina Thomas-Watson, winner of the Generation easyJet Cadet Program, Daniella Saucedo Orozco, winner of the Aeromexico Cadet Program, and Bisma Petafi, winner of the CityJet Climb High Mentored Cadet Program. CAE is awarding five scholarships for the first edition of the program.
