Turkish defence firm CANiK is highlighting a comprehensive range of solutions that include pistols, heavy machine guns, medium-calibre cannons and remote-controlled weapon systems at the ongoing ADEX 2026.
“As CANiK, we are immensely proud to be present in friendly and brotherly Azerbaijan, to see our products serving with different units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and to contribute to the country’s defence capabilities,” said Didem Aral, Member of the Board of Directors at CANiK. “Our co-operation with Azerbaijan began with pistols and has since expanded to include the deployment of our 12.7 × 99 mm heavy machine guns on land, naval and air platforms, as well as the use of our remote-controlled weapon systems aboard uncrewed surface vessels. We believe medium-calibre systems will play an important role in the next phase of our partnership. We are confident that the solutions developed by our companies can make a significant contribution to both Azerbaijan’s new platform programmes and the modernisation of its existing systems.”
The company, which has manufacturing facilities in Türkiye, the United States and the United Kingdom, has established a strong presence in the field of uncrewed surface vessels. The TRAKON Lite remote-controlled weapon system, developed by CANiK company Unirobotics and integrated with CANiK’s 12.7 × 99 mm heavy machine guns, has been in active service in Azerbaijan aboard DEARSAN-built SALVO armed uncrewed surface vessels.
With an annual production capacity exceeding 5,000 units, CANiK is the world’s largest manufacturer of 12.7 × 99 mm heavy machine guns. It is also the only company capable of serially producing all the principal variants in this calibre with different rates of fire.
The company’s heavy machine-gun portfolio includes the M2 QCB, with a rate of fire of 600–650 rounds per minute; the M2F, capable of 900–950 rounds per minute; and the M3, which delivers a rate of fire of 1,100–1,200 rounds per minute. The portfolio also features the M3 FALCON, a specialised open-bolt solution developed for air platforms and capable of firing 1,200 rounds per minute.
At the ongoing event, CANiK is showcasing these systems alongside the TRAKON Core and TRAKON Lite remote-controlled weapon systems. Built around an open-system architecture, the TRAKON family provides high-precision solutions that can be readily adapted to crewed and uncrewed land and naval platforms.
Medium-calibre systems will form a central part of CANiK’s next phase of co-operation with Azerbaijan. The flagship of CANiK’s medium-calibre weapon family, the VENOM LR 30 × 113 mm low-recoil cannon, has been designed to increase the firepower of crewed and uncrewed land, naval and air platforms while maintaining a lightweight and compact configuration.
