South Korean Cheonmu precision missiles will soon be fitted with a high-performance anti-jamming Global Positioning System (GPS). system, that will enhance its ability to respond to cater for threats in the Electronic Warfare (EW) spectrum. Hanwha Aerospace, the manufacturer of the Cheonmu missile recently entered into a contract with BAE Systems to further enhance the EW capabilities of its Chunmoo multiple rocket launcher. The upgrades to be undertaken by Hanwha Aerospace and BAE Systems will help ensure that Cheonmu missiles will be able to perform their mission flawlessly in any battlefield environment.
Under the terms of the technology cooperation agreement inked with BAE Systems, Cheonmu guided missiles will be fitted with a high-performance anti-jamming GPS. Anti-jamming technology prevents jamming attacks and disrupts wireless communication signals with powerful radio waves. BAE, Hanwha Aerospace will equip the Cheonmu missile with BAE's high-performance GPS, which includes next-generation anti-jamming capabilities. BAE's military GPS and anti-jamming technologies are already operationally proven in numerous North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) member countries.
Hanwha Aerospace and BAE Systems share a close partnership, having signing a contract to supply Modular Charge Systems (MCS) worth approximately KRW 180 billion in 2023. The two companies plan to strengthen their collaboration in advanced electronic warfare technologies, leveraging this technological collaboration.
