Collins Aerospace Systems is teaming up with its GLOBALink partners – Aviation Data Communication Corporation (ADCC) and Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Limited (AEROTHAI) – to enhance safety and efficiency for flight and tarmac operations in Asia.
The three companies have signed a memorandum of understanding to leverage each company’s existing technology to provide communication solutions to
stakeholders on the tarmac. Equipped with a vision to now provide datacentric solutions for the tarmac, the partnership stands to transform the efficiency of airports, airlines, ground handlers and air traffic controllers.
“We recognized an opportunity to utilize sensors on tarmac ground service equipment for usage tracking, predictive maintenance and even monitoring speed and safety in
critical areas where airplanes may be parked,” explains Clotilde Enel-Rehel, general manager for Commercial Aviation & Network Services for Collins Aerospace. “That’s
just one example of how this partnership will create a connected tarmac, and in turn, enable true schedule optimization.”
Another example is enabling ground communications to help guide an aircraft to their gate during foggy weather when the air traffic control tower isn’t able to assist.
