Abu Dhabi-based Al Seer Marine Technologies, which is looking at Malaysia as a key future market, is making its maiden show appearance at Defence Services Asia (DSA 2018).
The 15 year old company has already made a name for itself as a supplier of high-performance Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USV) and is now aggressively pursuing the growing demand for unmanned systems in the region. “We’re delighted to be exhibiting at DSA for the first time and as one of the premier USV manufacturers in the world, Asia is a big part of our ongoing strategy and we’re looking forward to strengthening existing relationships and forging new ones,” Lee Drinkwater Head of Business Development & Strategy at Al Seer Marine Technologies tells Daily News. ‘
The company has rapidly developed a credible USV portfolio and continues to invest to move forward with developments, new platforms and better, more intelligent vessels. Al Seer has worked to develop high-performance multi-mission USVs that operate not only in littoral and riverine areas but can also be scaled up for blue water operations. It also places a special premium on its proprietary hull design and propulsion expertise.
“Our platforms are built around the systems and software allowing the end user to easily scale the platform for any operation. Asia has similar waters to the Gulf, so we’re well practiced at designing, building and servicing platforms around our systems,” Drinkwater says, while adding, “We’re forever looking at new ways to advance the systems, interoperability and vessel design. We’ve got some exciting news to announce next month which will have us making a very bold statement indeed!”
The company has grown significantly in size over the last couple of years and its production facilities are spread over two sites which are more than 100k square meters in size. As a boat builder, technology and robotics company, Drinkwater says that Al Seer Marine’s platforms are designed to allow easy integration of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), optics and a vast array of sensor payloads, whether these be Commercial-OffThe-Shelf (COTS) equipment or supplied by the end user.
In addition to providing highly adaptable, versatile and technologically competitive solutions, for emerging requirements, Al Seer Marine’s non-export controlled USV Systems allow it to avoid the normal defense OEM bureaucracy of mechanisms such as Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
