DSEI 2021, which will take place from Sept. 14-17 in London, looks set to herald the return of face-to-face business for the defence and security sector.
Over 2.6 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have already been administered in the UK. A relaxation of restrictions looks likely by Spring.
Among the highlights of DSEI 2021 will be the newly introduced ‘Future Tech Hub’, which is a meeting place for the defence community to discuss topical subjects such as Digitalisation, Cyber Security, Networks & Communications, AI, Big Data & Analytics and developments in IT Infrastructure. Fujitsu, CGI, DXC.technology and KLAS Telecom are among the companies that will be attending.
DSEI 2021 is being held in the backdrop of the UK Ministry od Defence receiving a massive investment that will support many programs, including the setting up of the Artificial Intelligence Agency and National Cyber Force. In November last year, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a £16.5 billion ($21.8BN) boost in defense spending, over four years, the biggest such spending bump for 30 years. The spending hike is expected to create 40,000 jobs and make biggest military defense spender in Europe and the second largest in NATO after the U.S.
