Dubai Airports received the Operational Excellence Award from AirportLabs at Passenger Terminal Expo 2025, in recognition of its decade-long innovation efforts that have transformed operations at Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC). The award acknowledges the airport operator's continued leadership in operational performance, digital innovation, and the successful deployment of advanced technologies, which have set new standards for airport operations worldwide.
The award recognises Dubai Airports’ commitment to improving operational efficiency and resilience through the strategic adoption of cloud-based, real-time systems tailored to its specific operational needs. These technological innovations have played a significant role in streamlining services, allowing the airports to handle peak traffic periods with greater ease and providing a smoother, faster, and more secure experience for passengers.
By adopting scalable, future-ready infrastructure, Dubai Airports has been able to enhance coordination across multiple functions, ensuring that operational efficiency is maintained, even during times of record passenger volumes. This has allowed the airport to consistently provide high-quality service and keep passenger flow moving efficiently.
The recognition also highlights the long-standing collaboration between Dubai Airports and AirportLabs, which has produced a series of technological advancements. Over the past ten years, this partnership has led to the creation and successful implementation of several key digital solutions.
One of the first major milestones was the introduction of the Airport Community App (ACA) and VisionAir Flight Information Display System (FIDS) in 2016. These solutions significantly improved the sharing of real-time operational data, enhancing coordination among various stakeholders at DXB and DWC and ultimately improving the passenger experience.
Dubai Airports further enhanced its operations by transitioning critical systems to cloud-based platforms, a move that set new industry standards in situational awareness and communication. As part of its collaboration with AirportLabs, Dubai Airports co-developed a suite of custom solutions designed to address the unique challenges of managing high-volume aviation hubs.
Among the solutions developed was the SkyCore AODB, which provides a centralised platform for managing operational data, improving efficiency across airport functions. Real-Time DXB, another key system, provides live situational awareness, allowing the airport to respond to dynamic operational conditions and manage resources effectively. Additionally, the Pocket Flights mobile application was created to give both passengers and airport staff easy access to real-time flight information, further enhancing operational transparency and communication. Another solution, Allegra RMS, optimises resource management by improving the planning and allocation of resources across the airport, ensuring efficient operations even during peak periods.
These solutions continue to support Dubai Airports’ ability to deliver exceptional service levels and manage record-breaking passenger traffic with ease.
The Operational Excellence Awards celebrate transformative collaborations that have had a meaningful impact on the aviation industry. These awards honour those organisations that have demonstrated sustained innovation, leadership, and a commitment to excellence, driving the evolution of airport operations and shaping the future of aviation.
