Edge Accelerates International Partnerships, Grows Global Presence

: Feb 18, 2025 - : 7:07 am

UAE's Edge Group is expanding its global foootprint and has signed a series of partnership agreements with international companies at the ongoing show.

The Group has entered into an approximately 500 million euro contract over a five-year period with Fincantieri, one of the world’s leading groups in high-complexity shipbuilding. As part of the deal, MAESTRAL, their Abu Dhabi-based shipbuilding joint venture, will be awarded a major ‘In-Service Support Strategic Partnership Project’ for the entire UAE Navy fleet by Tawazun Council.

Edge entity KATIM and Indra are focused on advancing ultra-secure communications solutions for the wider defence market. KATIM is a leader in the development of innovative and ultra-secure communications and data protection solutions. Indra Sistemas (Indra) is a Spanish information technology and defence systems company with a footprint in over 140 countries worldwide. Both companies will come together to deliver cutting-edge ultra-secure communication software and hardware solutions into Spanish and NATO markets.

EDGE Group and ELT Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to assess the potential for a future joint venture based in the United Arab Emirates. Should the collaboration be successful, the future entity will be established in the UAE and will focus on the development of Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, including Cyber Electromagnetic Applications (CEMA). One potential area of collaboration could be integrating these solutions into vessels built by EDGE Group’s maritime arm, ADSB, and MAESTRAL.

General Atomics-Systems Integration, an affiliate of General Atomicsm has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EPI, which is an entity of Edge Group and the cornerstone of precision engineering in the UAE’s aerospace, oil and gas, and defence industries.

A key milestone in the project will be the certification of EPI’s facility as a Part 145 repair centre. This will involve the production airworthiness certification process and the test and evaluation of prototype units, ensuring compliance with the highest industry standards.
The project is enabled by the Tawazun Council (Tawazun Economic Program).
