EDGE has signed a landmark USD 7 billion cooperation agreement with Republikorp, Indonesia’s leading defence holding company, marking one of the most significant international defence initiatives ever launched between the UAE and Indonesia. Announced at Dubai Airshow 2025, the partnership represents EDGE’s largest and most strategically pivotal international programme to date.
The multi-layered agreement—signed with the support of Indonesia’s Ministry of Defence—covers technology transfer (ToT), localised production, co-development, and a full-scale modernisation programme for the Indonesian Armed Forces. Financed through the UAE, the initiative is designed to accelerate Indonesia’s defence modernisation while enhancing its long-term industrial autonomy.
“This landmark defence initiative represents a significant milestone in EDGE’s international growth,” said Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE. “In partnership with Republikorp, we are helping shape a modernised, self-sustaining defence ecosystem that strengthens Indonesia’s national security and industrial capability. This programme embodies our commitment to long-term collaboration, technology transfer, and the delivery of advanced, integrated systems.”
The agreement spans a broad portfolio of advanced defence capabilities, including:
· SKYKNIGHT air defence missile systems
· Next-generation infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs)
· Unmanned stealth missile boats
· Cyber defence infrastructure
· Small arms ammunition production facilities
Together, these programmes will create a deeply integrated defence manufacturing base in Indonesia, strengthening both countries’ industrial capacities and embedding EDGE technologies within Indonesia’s national supply chain.
Republikorp Group Chairman Norman Joesoef called the partnership a strategic leap forward for Indonesia. “This USD 7 billion partnership marks a major step toward Indonesia’s long-term defence autonomy, industrial independence and international confidence,” he said. “By joining forces with EDGE, we are investing in both systems and human capital for the benefit of both nations. This is more than cooperation between two companies—this is a bond between two brotherly nations.”
