EDGE, an advanced technology and defence group, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Emirates Cable Corporation Interconnect (ECCI) to develop a cable harness manufacturing facility in Abu Dhabi.
The agreement was signed at the International Defence Exhibition & Conference 2025 (IDEX 2025). Under the partnership, HALCON, an EDGE subsidiary specialising in smart weapon systems, will transfer a fully operational cable harness facility to ECCI.
The initiative aligns with the UAE’s industrial policies, including the ‘Make it in the Emirates’ and ‘Industry 4.0’ initiatives, as well as ‘Operation 300bn’, the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology’s strategy to expand the country’s industrial sector. EDGE stated that the collaboration supports the development of a local defence industry, enhances in-country value, contributes to economic diversification, and strengthens the UAE’s position in the global defence sector.
