The Brazilian Navy has signed an agreement for the integration of MANSUP anti-ship missiles onto its Tamandaré-class stealth frigates. The deal was formalised at the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) 2025 in Abu Dhabi, with Brazilian Navy Vice-Admiral Carlos Henrique de Lima Zampieri, Director of Naval Weapons Systems, and SIATT CEO Rogerio Salvador signing the agreement in the presence of EDGE Group Managing Director & CEO Hamad Al Marar.
Vice-Admiral Zampieri described the MANSUP programme as a strategically significant initiative for Brazil, highlighting its role in strengthening the country's maritime defence capabilities. “The integration of locally-developed cutting-edge solutions such as MANSUP onto the Tamandaré-class frigates exemplifies our drive for the development of world-class national capabilities. The partnership with EDGE on this programme has been integral to its success,” he said.
MANSUP (Anti-Ship National Missile) has been developed in collaboration with the Brazilian Navy and SIATT, a Brazilian company specialising in smart weapons and high-tech systems. EDGE Group holds a 50% share in SIATT. The missile system is intended for use by both the UAE Navy and the Brazilian Navy’s frigate programme, as well as for potential export.
Hamad Al Marar stated that the MANSUP programme is an example of successful international collaboration. “We are taking advantage of the tremendous experience and scale offered by EDGE, the Brazilian Navy, and domain specialist, SIATT, to offer sophisticated solutions tailored to the exact requirements of the end-user. Beyond its technological impact, the MANSUP programme will also drive economic growth, creating direct employment opportunities and generating a wider ripple effect across the programme’s manufacturing ecosystem,” he said.
Rogerio Salvador emphasised SIATT’s goal of expanding internationally with EDGE’s support. “This event shows the strength of the relationship between UAE and Brazil and represents a key milestone on SIATT’s strategy of international expansion. Leveraging on EDGE Group’s excellent market position, we now aim to offer this solution for other friendly countries,” he said.
MANSUP is equipped with inertial guidance and active radar homing and has been undergoing extensive testing on Brazilian naval vessels. It may also be adapted for selected air and land platforms. SIATT is responsible for the system’s guidance, navigation, control, telemetry, propulsion, and warhead, as well as its integration onto ships and ground platforms.
In addition to the current programme, EDGE, SIATT, and the Brazilian Navy are working towards finalising the extended-range variant, MANSUP-ER.
