Egypt is one of the numerous operators of the iconic AM General HMMWV and has chosen the HMMWV Powered Chassis for its new Temsah-3 light armoured vehicle.
Egypt is likely to acquire larger numbers of the chassis for the new armoured vehicle programme, once developmental testing of the Temsah-3 is completed. “We are in discussions to fulfill Egyptian requirements for their light armoured vehicle programme,” Robert S. Quinn Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications at AM General tells Daily News at the ongoing EDEX 2018. “As a trusted supplier to the Egyptian armed forces and having established our presence here, we are looking for additional growth opportunities in the region.”
AM General is also displaying an M1152 light tactical vehicle owned by the Egyptian Ministry of Defence (MoD) at its stand.
For new light armoured vehicle development programmes, the HMMWV Powered Chassis can be provided as a fully assembled unit that is ready for integration with a customized body to suit the specific requirements of the operator. It can also be delivered as a knock-down kit ready for assembly at the manufacturing facility. The HMMWV Powered Chassis, features a dedicated parking brake, rear differential with improved cooling capacity, upgraded 4L85E transmission, 400-amp alternator, enhanced airlift brackets, geared fan drive for improved cooling, front mounted condenser, heavy duty shocks and high capacity disk brakes with quick brake pad removal. The HMMWV powered chassis is a proven 4X4 light tactical platform that has been battle tested to perform reliably in the most extreme environments.
