: Feb 6, 2018 - : 1:59 pm

Embraer has announced a letter of intent at ongoing airshow for up to six KC-390 multi-mission aircraft from aviation services SkyTech which is a partnership between Portugal’s ACMI and Australian aviation services provider Adagold Aviation.

“We have been following the KC-390 programme since its inception and believe that it will be a game-changer in the medium-sized airlift story_category as well as a multi-role platform”, said Paulo Mirpuri, president of SkyTech. The company has also stated that this is the first of a wide variety of platforms that will fulfil various niche roles and projects that SkyTech is undertaking worldwide.”

The aircraft to be purchased by SkyTech are likely to be offered for multiple defence projects.

Embraer developed the KC-390 to meet the requirements of the Brazilian Air Force and also to cater for emerging requirements for a modern airlifter.

Embraer officials tell Daily News that the KC-390 presents the lowest life cycle cost on the market.

The airlifter has been designed to perform a variety of missions effectively, such as transporting cargo, troops or paratroopers, aerial refueling, in addition to supporting humanitarian missions, search and rescue missions, medical evacuation and aerial firefighting.

A KC-390 can transport up to 26 metric tons of cargo at a maximum speed of 470 knots (870 km/h), providing unmatched flexibility and range for potential operators of the military transport.
