Embraer will participate in the Avalon Airshow in Australia from 25 to 30 March 2025, highlighting its role in the region’s aviation sector. The company has had a presence in Australia since 1978 and currently supports nearly 50 E-Jets and 20 business jets operating in Australasia. These include the Phenom 300 series, which has been the world’s best-selling light jet for 13 consecutive years.
The commercial aviation sector in the region features one of the largest E-Jet fleets in the Asia-Pacific, with operators such as Alliance Airlines, Airnorth, National Jet Express, and Air Kiribati. Alliance Airlines, the largest E-Jet operator in Australia, operates domestic routes for Qantas. The country’s Embraer fleet is set to expand with the arrival of eight E190-E2 aircraft for Virgin Australia.
Raul Villaron, Vice President for Asia Pacific at Embraer Commercial Aviation, said, “Australia is a vital market for Embraer, and our presence at Avalon underscores our long-term commitment to the region. With a strong foundation of existing E-Jet operators and the exciting addition of Virgin Australia's E190-E2 fleet, we're confident that Embraer aircraft will continue to play a crucial role in connecting communities and driving economic growth across Australia.”
Virgin Australia placed a firm order for eight E190-E2s last year as part of its fleet renewal strategy. The aircraft are scheduled for delivery in the second half of this year and will be based in Perth, Western Australia. The E190-E2 features improved aerodynamics, an updated wing design, and new technology aimed at reducing fuel consumption and emissions. It has been certified to operate with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) blends of up to 50% and has demonstrated compatibility with 100% SAF in test flights. Full certification for 100% SAF use is expected by 2030.
Embraer has committed to supporting the aviation industry’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 through the development of aircraft, technologies, and solutions that reduce environmental impact.
In the defence sector, Embraer’s Defence & Security division will present its range of military aircraft, including the KC-390 Millennium. The aircraft entered service with the Brazilian Air Force in 2019, followed by the Portuguese Air Force in 2023 and the Hungarian Air Force in 2024. It has demonstrated high reliability, with a mission capability rate of 93% and mission completion rates exceeding 99%.
The KC-390 has also been selected by several other countries. The Netherlands announced its choice in 2022, followed by Austria, the Czech Republic, and South Korea in 2023. Sweden, Slovakia, and an undisclosed customer also opted for the aircraft in 2024.
