The Dubai-based airline announced it will fly the world’s largest passenger jet on its Dubai to London Heathrow route from Monday, July 15. The airline, which has been forced to ground all superjumbos in its fleet due to the effects of the pandemic, will operate the world’s biggest passenger aircraft for the first time in almost three months.

Dubai’s easing of travel restrictions seems to have changed that with Emirates announcing the return of the A380 on twitter.

The airline is expected to resume A380 service to other destinations in the summer as well. According to Routes Online, its schedule reflects a double-daily service to New York JFK will resume in August. Other destinations that are likely see the return of A380 service in the summer are Amsterdam, London Gatwick, Manchester and Los Angeles.

While Emirates is resuming A380 services, the airline is still in the process of managing nearly half a million refund requests after thousands of flights were cancelled due to COVID-19 related travel restrictions. Emirates has assured travellers they will receive refunds by early August.
