EPCOR, the AFI KLM E&M subsidiary specialized in APUs and pneumatic components, has expanded its MRO services to the operators of the Airbus A220 that are equipped with the GTCP131-9C auxiliary power units (APUs) manufactured by Honeywell.
The offer includes APU repair and maintenance including warranty repairs. Although EPCOR will be the sole repair shop located in Europe, Middle East, Africa and India region for the GTCP131-9C, they will provide global service coverage certified by Honeywell.
The Honeywell GTCP131-9C APU, used on the Airbus A220, is the sole APU certified on this aircraft type. The GTCP131-9C is derived from Honeywell’s 131-9 model, the most commonly used APU well known for its efficiency and reduced fuel burn. The main unique components are the ECU, the Low e-Combustion system, the Accessory Gearbox, and the wiring harness. The majority of the parts in the -9C are common to the -9A and -9B models on which EPCOR already has a solid knowledge and know-how.
The GTCP131-9C capability will be the eighth type of APU that is on the capability list of EPCOR. With the new capability, EPCOR can extend its APU services to customers operating Airbus A220 aircraft. EPCOR ended last year by obtaining the sole license for the repair and overhaul of the GTCP331-350 APU.
“We are delighted to offer this new product to prospective customers as well as Air France, part of the Air France-KLM Group,” said EPCOR Managing Director Martijn de Vries. “We have worked very closely with Honeywell and are very proud today to have earned approved repair shop status for this specific APU.”
Part of the Prognos predictive analysis suite, Prognos for APU predicts maintenance needs and prevents avoidable shop visits and delays. The solution helps airlines maintain maximum control over their APUs and keep them operating for as long as possible with minimum effort. Developed and used on previous versions of the 131-9A and 9B APUs, Prognos will also be available on the Honeywell GTCP131-9C.
