EUROATLAS, headquartered in Bremen, Germany, has debuted a full-scale mockup of its Greyshark Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV), at the ongoing IMDEX.
This is the AUV's first appearance in the region. The Greyshark AUV was first unveiled at Euronaval 2024 held last November.
The Greyshark is available in two hull lengths, Foxtrot: 7.99 m and Bravo: 6.50 m and it is the latter that is on display at the show.
The presence of the Greyshark AUV at IMDEX signals the company’s intention to explore market prospects in the region for the next-generation AUV which is purpose-built for scale, across missions including reconnaissance, surveillance, and critical infrastructure protection among many others. Developmental work is underway and slated for completion later this year.
The AUV can operate at a standard cruising speed of 10 knots and boasts a minimum operational range of 1000 nautical miles. The AUV can escort submarines, frigates, freighters, and tankers or function as an illuminator to expose threats. It also serves as a decoy, drawing attention away from high-value assets.
Co-developed by EUROATLAS and EvoLogic, the Greyshark is touted as the most versatile, multi-mission, high-endurance AUV in its class. It is being positioned as both a tactical asset and a strategic force multiplier in the global shift toward unmanned maritime dominance.
The AUV offers an endurance of up to 16 weeks and can travel 8,000+ NM at 4 knots. It is equipped with a highly precise navigation system, ensuring coverage across its entire operational range while submerged.
The AUV features a highly sophisticated suite of sensors, including a Telescopic Antenna System with built-in Military Radio, Anti-Jam GNSS, LTE, Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS), Top Side Acoustic Antennas (USBL), Depth Sensors (DS), Temperature Sensors (TS), Bottom Side Acoustic Antennas, Multibeam Forward Looking Sonar (FLS) and Passive & Active Acoustic Sensors.
