Despite operations against them, Iranian straw companies are still helping the country's UAV industry flourish, say Israeli defence sources.
According to French newspaper Le Figaro, European security organizations have uncovered a sophisticated logistics network that operated between the summer of 2024 and April 2025, which supplied Hezbollah terror organization with components to build armed drones. According to the report, the network operated in Spain, France, Germany and Britain, and was involved in the acquisition and transportation of advanced parts to Lebanon.
The investigation began in Spain, when the Civil Guard identified unusual purchases of equipment related to drones in mid-2024. The suspects, citizens of Lebanese origin, operated through Spanish companies under their control. They purchased electronic guidance systems, propellers, gasoline engines, over 200 electric motors, and several tons of resins and composite materials used to build drone bodies, wings, and other parts. The equipment was intended to buildi drones capable of carrying several kilograms of explosives.
According to the report, the European authorities suspect that similar components may have already been used in drones launched by Hezbollah against Israeli targets. It was also reported that authorities suspect that the drone components were ready to be shipped in significant quantities - by sea - to Lebanon.
The network operated under the guise of legitimate commercial companies, which made it difficult to identify. The suspects used business structures to carry out the purchases and shipments without arousing suspicion. The activity was exposed thanks to intelligence cooperation between European countries, which led to the arrest of the suspects and the confiscation of the equipment.
