EXOSENS, a prominent player in the electro-optical sector, continues to advance the capabilities of portable imaging systems through its subsidiaries, Xenics and Photonis. These companies have developed cutting-edge technologies that enhance visibility in challenging environments, serving both defense and industrial applications.
MicroCube 640: Compact Thermal Imaging by Xenics
Xenics, a Belgian-based subsidiary of EXOSENS, specializes in infrared imaging solutions. One of its notable products is the MicroCube 640, a compact thermal camera module designed for applications requiring minimal size, weight, and power consumption.
The MicroCube 640 features a 640 x 480 pixel uncooled microbolometer sensor with a 12 µm pixel pitch, operating in the long-wave infrared (LWIR) spectrum between 8–14 µm. It offers a frame rate of up to 60 Hz and a noise equivalent temperature difference (NETD) of less than 50 mK, with an option for <40 mK, ensuring high sensitivity in thermal detection. The module supports various output interfaces, including MIPI-CSI, DF40, and UVC, facilitating integration into diverse systems .
With its compact dimensions and low power consumption (under 1.2 W), the MicroCube 640 is well-suited for integration into handheld devices, drones, and other platforms where space and energy efficiency are critical.
XR5 Image Intensifier Tube: Enhanced Night Vision by Photonis
Photonis, another subsidiary of EXOSENS, has developed the XR5 image intensifier tube, setting a high standard in night vision technology. The XR5 is designed to amplify low-light images, enabling users to detect more details in various lighting conditions.
Key features of the XR5 include an integrated Auto-Gated power supply, which allows the device to adapt to dynamic lighting environments, such as transitions between dark and bright areas. This functionality is particularly beneficial in urban operations where lighting conditions can change rapidly.
The XR5 boasts a typical Figure of Merit (FOM) of 1600, with a signal-to-noise ratio of 25 and a limiting resolution of 68 line pairs per millimeter (lp/mm). It is available in both inverting and non-inverting formats and can be configured with either green (P43) or white (P45) phosphor screens, depending on user preference.
This image intensifier tube is compatible with various night vision devices, including the PVS-14 monocular and PVS-7 goggles, making it a versatile choice for military and law enforcement applications.
Through the innovations of its subsidiaries, EXOSENS continues to provide advanced electro-optical solutions that meet the evolving needs of defense and industrial sectors. The MicroCube 640 and XR5 image intensifier tube exemplify the company's commitment to enhancing visibility and situational awareness in challenging environments.
