Farnborough Airshow Deals Reach £16.4 Billion, Delivering £2.6 Billion for UK Aerospace

Aircraft and engine orders announced on the second day of the Farnborough International Airshow 2026 totaled £16.4 billion ($22 billion) at list prices, with an estimated £2.6 billion expected to benefit the U.K. aerospace industry, according to trade group ADS.

The announcements included 82 firm aircraft orders, 12 purchase options and 431 firm engine orders, with confirmed business accounting for £16.1 billion of the total.

ADS said British companies are expected to receive about £2.6 billion of that value through their participation in global aircraft and engine supply chains, reflecting the U.K.'s role in producing engines, wings, avionics and other aerospace components.

The second day's total was 34% lower than the equivalent day at the 2024 Farnborough Airshow, although the number of firm aircraft orders increased to 82, up from 78 two years ago.

Among the major transactions, aircraft lessor AerCap ordered 15 additional Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, while Philippine Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding for nine Airbus A350-1000 widebody aircraft. Uganda Airlines placed its first direct order with Boeing for four 737 MAX 8s and four 787-9 Dreamliners.

Brazilian planemaker Embraer also secured new business, led by an order from Abra Group for 20 E195-E2 regional jets, along with additional purchase rights and options.

Engine manufacturers accounted for much of the day's value, with 431 firm engine orders placed with CFM International, Pratt & Whitney and GE Aerospace.

ADS noted that while many commercial aircraft are assembled outside Britain, their engines, systems and structures rely on extensive U.K. manufacturing and engineering expertise, allowing international aircraft sales to generate long-term work for British suppliers.

The figures are based on manufacturers' published list prices using an exchange rate of £0.743 to US$1. Actual transaction values are typically lower because airlines and lessors negotiate confidential discounts.
