Saudia Group has confirmed an order for 10 Airbus A330-900 aircraft for its low-cost subsidiary, flyadeal. The deal, announced during a signing ceremony at Airbus headquarters in Toulouse, marks the airline’s first widebody acquisition and represents a significant step toward expanding its network to long-haul destinations.
The agreement is part of Saudia Group’s ongoing fleet renewal and expansion strategy and builds on a previous order placed in May 2024 for 105 Airbus aircraft, which included 54 A321neo for flyadeal. The addition of the A330-900s is expected to support the group’s objective of operating the youngest fleet among low-cost carriers in the Middle East.
Present at the signing were Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of Saudia Group; Christian Scherer, CEO Commercial Aircraft at Airbus; Saleh Eid, Vice President of Fleet Management and Agreements at Saudia Group; and Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, EVP Sales Commercial Aircraft at Airbus.
“This deal marks a pivotal milestone in our ambitious strategy to modernise and expand our fleet,” said Al-Omar. “It builds on last year’s historic deal with Airbus for 105 aircraft. This step aligns with our national strategies under Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to connect 250 destinations and facilitate the travel of over 330 million travelers and 150 million tourists by 2030.”

Currently, flyadeal operates 37 aircraft from the A320 Family, while parent company Saudia operates a mixed fleet of 93 A320 Family and A330 aircraft.
The A330-900 is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines and has a range of up to 7,200 nautical miles (13,300 km). It features Airbus’ Airspace cabin, designed to enhance passenger comfort with more personal space, larger overhead bins, updated lighting, and advanced in-flight entertainment and connectivity systems.
As of March 2025, the A330 Family has recorded over 1,800 firm orders from more than 130 customers globally. The aircraft is currently certified to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with Airbus targeting 100% SAF capability by 2030.
