GAMECO Starts First B737-800 PTF Conversion

: May 20, 2020 - : 12:40 am

Chinese MRO provider GAMECO has begun work on Boeing 737 passenger-to-freighter conversions, and is considering the opening of a second production line.

The Guangzhou-based company inducted the first aircraft — a 737-800 registered as N520AM and painted in AeroMexico’s colours — on 18 May. The company is yet to announce the customer for the converted aircraft.

According to GAMECO, there has been a “surge in demand for freighters.” The company is confident that it s conversion line “can meet the increasing air cargo transportation demands  home and abroad.”

The company’s move comes in the wake of its announcement late last year about the opening of a Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF) line at its Guangzhou base. According to reports, the company’s second B737-800 PTF conversion production line will be put into production in the second half of this year.
