Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) which is part of the German-French defense technology group KNDS, has been commissioned by the German Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) for the supply of nine Mungo N/C Recce reconnaissance systems.

The N/C Recce variant of the Mungo vehicle is able to detect and identify nuclear and chemical threats.

All nine vehicles are to be delivered by the end of 2022.

Under the terms of the contract, MKW will supply the vehicles, provide spare parts packages and undertake the training of crew and maintenance personnel.

The Mungo N/C Recce variant has a three-man crew and is fitted with a mass spectrometer, weather sensors and a radiation detection device, among other things.

The crew remains inside the secure vehicle throughout the entire detection and analysis process.

The ground can even be marked from inside the vehicle in the event of contamination.
